    In the week of prayers for Christian unity, 2nd year of a pilgrimage of Jesus the Friend Icon has started on January 19, 2008 in the St. Nicolas church in Bratislava - Podunajské Biskupice. The icon comes from Egypt and dates back to the 6th century. It will pilgrim around Slovakia the whole year.     On the St. Anton feast, patron of African hermits, there was an opening ceremony of the 3rd year of the project Long-distance adoption in Africa.     Representatives of Live AID organised a New Year’s meeting with partner organisations Krok za krokom, S.R.D.C.O.M. and Friends of Pavol Strauss, M.D Association; where they discussed the projects for the year 2008.

    On January 15, 2008 Live AID organized an evening of prayers for Peace in Kenya. The representatives of Slovak physicians in Kenya informed about the situation in the country after the presidential elections. Places of the prayers were Bratislava, Žilina, Košice, Prešov, Poprad.

    At the beginning of January 2008 a meeting was held between the president of Live AID, Dr. Gerhard Weag and the president of International Red Cross, Mr. Cormelia Sommaruga in Geneva. They also discussed the question of humanitarian help for Africa.

    Many thanks to all the parents, friends and schools who adopted an African child in December.

    In 2007 Live AID organized many workshops about Africa and Development Help in Prešov, Košice, Krompachy, Liptovský Mikuláš, Spišská Nová Ves, Gelnica, Ružomberok, Zuberec, Levice, Banská Bystrica, Trnava, Nitra, Bratislava, Prague, Wien, Zagreb, Krakow, Paris and Brussels.

    In November 2007 there was a plenary meeting of Live AID in Bratislava. Members and board of directors of Live AID appraised the year 2007 as successful and opened the next part of the Long-distance adoption programme and new cooperation with the project partners in Africa and Europe.

    Live AID successfully cooperates on the Jewish-Christian dialogue project. Activities held in Krakow, Paris, Nitra and Prešov were ones of the most successfull in 2007.

    In the middle of October there was a Slovak – Italian workshop FAIR TRADE AND NEW MEDIA in Košice.

    Successful cooperation of Live AID, civic society Krok za krokom and nonprofit organization S.R.D.C.O.M. yielded first mutual projects for children and youth in summer and autumn 2007 held in Košice, Prešov and Krompachy. Thanks to all participants, organizing team and speakers from all the above mentioned societies.

    The members of Live AID participated in the workshop MOONSTONE, December 1-2, 2007, VŠMU Bratislava (University of Music, Drama and Fine Arts in Bratislava). Workshop was organized by MEDIA Desk Slovakia in cooperation with MOONSTONE International and Bratislava Film Festival. Artistic leader of MOONSTONE seminar was Jean Luc Ormieres.

    Live AID representatives participated on the Cinematik festival and 7th Workshop MAIA held on September 7 – 8, 2007 in Piešťany.

    Live AID representatives presented in summer 2007 TV documentaries about Africa on the workshop Multimedia and Development in Paris.

    Prayers for Youth and Sydney 2008 (World Youth Day with Benedict XVI.).     In February 2007 Live AID and S.R.D.C.O.M. discussed the opportunities of cooperation on the projects for Africa.

    In December 2006 in Košice Live AID representatives met with the founder of the Archa Community, Jean Vanier. In Archa mentally handicapped and healthy people share the same space.

    On October 17, 2006 there was discussion with the students of the St. Andrew’s Grammar school in Ružomberok. Live AID members presented also the ecumenical media projects from Africa.

    On October 17, 2006 there was a lecture given at the Faculty of Philosophy: “Africa and its problems today”. Representative of Live AID Dr. Gerhard Weag informed the students and professors about the opportunities of cooperation on the projects in Africa.

    Music bands and sustainable development organizations participated on the happening World Against Poverty on October 17, 2006 on Hviezdoslav Square in Bratislava.

    On October 15, 2006 the campaign World Against Poverty took place in Paris with participation of Live AID representatives. The goal of the campaign was to inform the European society about the growing poverty problems in the world, mainly in African countries. Representatives of the government, regions and parliament were present. Wife of the former French president Francois Miterand participated in the peace march.

    In August 2006 members of Live AID had a meeting with representatives of schools from Togo. They talked about possible help for this country.

    On 17th October in Bratislava will be accomplished a meeting called World against the poorness at 1700 on Hviezdoslav place with participation of music bands and developing organizations.

    In August 2006 delegates of Live AID association met the delgates of schools from African country TOGO in France. They were speaking about possible help to the country.
